The Lighting Controls Academy is pleased to offer Part 3 of Lighting Control System Design, a Lighting Controls Academy course, available as a free video.
In Part 1 of this course, we learned about key documentation including the Content Intent Narrative (CIN), Sequence of Operations (SOO), and Owner Project Requirements (OPR). In Part 2, we learned about turning these requirements and conceptual design into a realized design. You’ve designed your lighting control system and the construction documents have been issued. Now what? Many designers may believe that their job ends at this point, but this is when the hard work may just be beginning. With an air-tight specification, many pitfalls can be avoided, but a poorly specified system can create a lot of confusion and challenges during installation and post-occupancy.
In Lighting Control System Design, Part 3: Installation and Post-Occupancy–authored and presented by LCA Education Manager C. Webster Marsh and running about 60 minutes–you will learn about bidding, responding to questions from installers, reviewing submittals and defending your design, following-through with the installation of the equipment, functional testing, training essential staff, and ultimately ensuring the owner is satisfied.
By the end of this video, you will specifically learn 1) how to navigate the complex process of estimating, pricing, and quoting a lighting control system, 2) understand and respond to the various documents used during the installation phase of a lighting control system, 3) coordinate the different roles and their required tasks during the installation phase, and 4) ensure owners and occupants understand how to use the lighting control system.
