Lighting Controls Academy Publishes Video Course on Lighting Control System Design (Part 1)

The Lighting Controls Academy is pleased to offer Part 1 of Lighting Control System Design, a Lighting Controls Academy course, available as a free video.

A good lighting design requires a good lighting controls design and, because of this, good design practices and a disciplined approach are essential with lighting controls, particularly as lighting control systems become more inherently sophisticated to satisfy more complex requirements.

Running about 45 minutes and authored and presented by LCA Education Manager C. Webster Marsh, Part 1 provides detailed information about the first step in designing an effective lighting control solution: identifying owner requirements and producing a Control Intent Narrative (CIN) and resulting Sequence of Operations (SOO).

By the end of part 1 of this course, you will be able to 1) determine all needs, wants, and requirements related to the lighting control system before and during the design, 2) express the goals and intent of the lighting control system within a CIN document that can be used as a control roadmap for the entire project team, 3) integrate the controls design with the lighting design via control zoning and 4) detail the control system’s behavior via an SOO.

This course is registered and/or recognized by the AIA (LU/HSW), NCQLP (LC), NALMCO (CLCP), DLC, and the State of California. To gain education credit, after taking the course, click here to access the course and successfully complete the associated quiz at NEMA Academy.
