Check Out NYControlled’s Educational Lineup

NYControlled, New York’s trade show dedicated exclusively to lighting controls, will offer a powerful educational program for attendees, including a seminar produced by the Lighting Controls Academy. The event takes place Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Metropolitan Pavilion, presented by the IESNYC and DLFNY and with a special pre-show workshop on October 14 sponsored by the LCA.

The pre-show hands-on workshop is sold out, but these presentations will be available on October 15 for all attendees to learn about lighting controls:

Designing a DMX Control System: Specifying Successful Projects
Cut the Cord, Keep the Code: Wireless Emergency Egress
Lighting’s Link to Smart Building Management
Connected Lighting: Lighting Beyond Illumination
Electric Mayhem and Lighting Controls

A key seminar will be presented by the Lighting Controls Academy from 12PM to 1PM: Design Express: Standardizing Control Intent Documentation.

Description: “Advanced lighting controls offer extraordinary capabilities but contain inherent complexity, particularly when deployed as systems complying with energy codes. To ensure the right solution is selected, properly installed, and accurately programmed, documentation best practices such as a Control Intent Narrative (CIN) and a Sequence of Operations (SOO) can be critical for success. To support adoption of these best practices, the Lighting Controls Academy has developed a new free tool—series of templates that organizes lighting control requirements based on the 2024 IECC into a clear, standardized CIN/SOO format. With these templates, designers can create both a design aid and a record of due diligence for review and commissioning.” Speakers: C. Webster Marsh, Lighting Controls Academy; Harold Jepsen, NEMA Lighting Controls Technical Section; and Yoelit Hiebert, Lighting Controls Academy.
