2023 Rebate Outlook

In 2023, commercial lighting rebates remain a strong driver for adoption of energy-efficient lighting and controls in existing buildings. Notable trends include continuing stability in LED and control rebates, imminent jeopardy for some LED replacement lamp rebates, and growth for networked lighting control and horticultural rebates. A coinciding trend with implications for lighting upgrades is introduction of substantial rebates for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Buildings Upgrade Prize (Buildings UP) is offering more than $22 million in cash prizes and technical assistance to teams across America with winning ideas to accelerate widespread, equitable energy efficiency and building electrification upgrades.

In this project at Komatsu’s Texas manufacturing facility, Synapse Wireless provided a wireless lighting control system that enabled both lighting and HVAC control while conducting monitoring enabling timely maintenance for enhanced safety and manufacturing uptime.

The real challenge for Carbon Lighthouse was to identify a solution that could interface successfully with the wide range of protocols commonly employed by the BMS, and transfer the high volume of detailed information generated, in real-time, to Carbon Lighthouse’s proprietary, patented, cloud-based software platform, CLUES. Any new approach would need to be more economical and efficient.

Uline, a distributor of shipping and packaging solutions to businesses throughout North America, wanted all of the more than 3,000 lights in its 800,000-sq.ft. Lacey, WA facility to operate as a single system with one interface that in turn would work the company’s existing IT system. Uline selected Synapse Wireless, which designed an intelligent lighting solution that effectively manages all of the lights.
